Customer Service Jobs in Connecticut’s Pocket

A new cell phone company is creating plenty of customer service jobs in Connecticut.
Pocket, a small cell phone network based in Texas, is planning to open a Northeast call center in Bloomfield, a move that will create 400 Connecticut jobs. According to an article by WFSB, the jobs will be in everything from customer service to engineering positions. So far, 120 employees have already been hired, many who were previously out of work after losing their jobs with other local companies like Nesco.
Pocket already held two training classes, during which time 25 people began learning to become sales managers and sales associates. Currently, future employees are learning telecommunications terminology, and will soon learn how to ring up a sale. The company plans to hold a job fair in New Haven sometime in January.
The new employees will work at 50 to 60 stores from Bristol to East Windsor, and the Bloomfield call center should house 30 customer service representatives, though the company hopes to eventually quadruple that number.
“We really see this market as a great market opportunity, focusing on the tier II markets between markets like Boston and New York,â€ CEO Rocky Crossland said in the article.
Pocket currently has a $120 million backing deal from a Boston firm, and hopes to launch service and start opening stores by the beginning of 2009. The company plans to offer cell phone coverage from Philadelphia to Boston. Though Pocket offers limited service coverage, it does offer unlimited texting, pictures and phone calls for $30 per month with no contract or credit check.
